This course is a study of human anatomy which develops a basic understanding of the structure and function of body organs and systems and their interactions. An understanding of anatomy is key to the practice of medicine and other areas of health. Other topics include nutrition, metabolism, and growth and development. Human Anatomy is a single comprehensive course with various branches such as: – Gross Anatomy, Developmental Anatomy (Embryology), Cytology, Histology, Histochemistry, Genetics, Neuroanatomy etc. This course also deals with zoology that includes the interaction of animal kingdom in their ecosystems such as classification, habits, structure, embryology, distribution, evolution, and extinct species.
Objectives:
1. Describe the structure and function of various human organs and systems;
2, Explain how human organs and systems interact [Scientific Literacy];
3. Describe the relationship between and processes related to nutrition and metabolism; and
4. Recognize the stages of growth and development.
5. provide students with a working knowledge of fundamental principles in zoology that will provide a foundation for their later advanced course work in more specific biological subjects.
6. students will become familiar with animal classification schemes and associated taxonomic group diagnostic characteristics as well as developing an understanding of and ability to apply basic zoological principles.
