Gender Paradox In Education

For example, they refer to countries with winning gender equality as those in which girls and women has more educational opportunities, where support for their activities and involvement in the technical sciences is an important area.

However, in indicators like the GGGR, gender equality is known by the literacy of women, their share in positions, their place in the structure of employment, which in no way reflects the norms, habits, and stereotypes prevailing in society.

Because of the COVID-19 impact, the gender gap has exceeded from 99.5 years to 135.6 years globally.

Of course, gender stereotypes affect both women and men in many ways. The same achievements, behavior, professional milestones, and work results are rated higher if they belong to a man. In particular, in science, men are considered more competent, which means that they are more willingly hired and trained, they are paid more.

And these are only those attitudes that we know about and which can take into account our reflections. But we can be influenced by gender stereotypes without realizing it.

What is the gender paradox in education and why does it not reflect reality?

Gender equality does not guarantee gender neutrality. A paradox that turned out to be not so paradoxical. The researchers found that the gap between men and women is wider in countries with a high gender equality index.  Those who live in poverty have to face many barriers to education (either primary or secondary). However, the researchers have cleared that it is majorly an issue for women than men.

How is gender equality in education beneficial?

In addition to the moral right of every child to quality education, there are many advantages of assuring gender equitability in education. Investing in education for female equality:

• grow the national growth rate
• grow the lifetime earning
• decrease the child mortality rate
• less child marriage rate
• decrease child stunting
• less maternal mortality
• positive “spillover” impact on victims of disengagement, child labor, or gang violence, or boys recruited into the army.

Gender equality education benefits are incredible.  These assures that girls and boys are experiencing similar opportunities. Of course, this is simpler said than done, and various communities are facing challenging situations.

Definitely, the struggle of removing gender paradox in education is not new, many are fighting for it for a long time now. Giving women the freedom to be financially independent, to explore themselves in the competitive job market, access the same wages and profiles as men,  we are creating a community that is equal and will be proper.

And, all this begins with education. There are only:

• 66% of countries with general equality in primary education
• 45% in lower secondary education
• 25% in upper secondary education

It is not only about enrolling the young girls in the school, however, but it is also about keeping them there and giving them a quality education. Assuring that they have access to education, are under care, and are safe.
